It's McDowell again

The Final of the Richard Bowen Memorial Individual Competition, which took place in the Eagle Bar on Monday 29th November, was a repeat of last seasons SRM Larne Individuals Final. Ed McDowell (pictured right) from Ibrox Pool Team and Alan Johnston from Feathers put on a great display for the spectators with McDowell again running out the winner. From a strong last 8, both players battled their way through to the Final of the 12th season of the Memorial Trophy for Richard. Richard's father and son watched the nights proceedings and it was son Martin, who presented McDowell with the trophy when the final black of the night was potted.

In the Last 8 Johnston showed his resolve coming from 2-1 down to beat last seasons winner Bill McIlroy Sr by 3-2. Tom McCorry was on fire outpotting No 1 Club cueist young William Irvine by 3-0. Ellis Martin had too much for fellow No 1 Club team mate Brian McWhirter in a 3-1 win whilst in a match that could have went either way McDowell edged out Darren Sterrett by 3-2.
In the Last 4 Johnston again showed nerves of steel, coming from 2-1 behind for the second time to beat McCorry and earn a place in the Final. In the other Semi a couple of uncharacteristic mistakes by Martin gave McDowell the edge for a 3-1 win.
The Final swung back and forward, but with McDowell leading 3-2, a superb long pot up the rail whilst holding perfect position gave him an easy run out on his last few balls to claim the Trophy.

League Secretary Scott Hutchinson thanked all the players for their support and a round of applause was given to the family of Richard Bowen
