League results Thursday 8th September

It's only Week 1 and already the Q.Club sponsored 2016 - 2017 Larne & District Pool League is looking like it will be a classic. With an array of talent from all over Northern Ireland taking to the green baize, prepare for some fantastic matches and battles ahead.

Reigning Champions The Thatch were left shell shocked as Hugo Manson's Feathers' side went home with both points after a great 9-6 win down in the Thatch Bar. Saints with big title ambitions of their own this season lost 9-7 after a play off frame away to Q.Pool, the match was off the highest standard including 4 break and dishes. Q.Pool debutante Declan Duff reigning Northern Ireland Under 23 Champion must have wondered what he had let himself in for this season as in two frames from the three he played he didn't get a single shot, Bill McIlroy Jr clearing up both times. Paul Francey was the hero of the hour for Q.Pool with the play off frame win. Last seasons Runners Up in both League and Cup Ibrox stuttered early on but eventually ran out 9-6 home winners over a gutsy St Comgalls side whilst Gers came back from Clonlee with both points courtesy of a 10-5 win. A titanic battle in the Station Bar seen the hosts lose out in a play off frame, with Wayne Lewis securing both points for the visiting Q.Club. Geoff McMichael's Freewheelers got off to a good start winning 9-6 over Thatch Rockets and last but not least No 1 Blues drew 8-8 at home to Rubys Stars, Nick McClay playing a captains innings for the visitors with an impressive 4/4.
