Ellis is Champion in all No 1 Club Final
A massive well done to No 1 Club cueist Ellis Martin. In an all No 1 Club Final he stormed to victory in the Final of the 2014 Richard Bowen Individual Memorial. Brave Runner Up was Gareth McIlroy of No 1 Reds.
The Last 8 played to a finish in the St Comgalls Club on Sunday 9th February. Martin seen off Robert Hawkins 5-3 in his Quarter Final and Aaron Wright 5-1 in the Semi Final. McIlroy had two nailbiting wins to reach the final pairing, 5-4 against Michael Douglas and 5-4 against Dean McDonagh, to whom at one stage in the match he trailed 1-4. But the experience of Martin proved key as he raced into a 3-0 lead and didn't look back. He never looked like losing the final and when the 313th frame of the 2 day Competition had ended, Martin was crowned the worthy Champion of the Competition he last won in 2002.
