Gers - Bye
What a fantastic season this is turning out to be in the Larne & District Pool League. Only 4 points seperate the top 7 teams and it is anybodys title to win or lose. With leaders The Gers having a bye this week, Thatch took full advantage to go joint top with a 12-3 win over No 1 Blues. Jonny Nelson broke and dished twice and there was also one for Gerry McCorry. No 1 Club also go joint top after a gruelling 8-8 draw away to Richard Todd's Ibrox though they will be slightly disappointed not to have taken the both points that would have seen them go clear at the top. They led 8-6 with two to play but the hosts won both courtesy of Robert Hawkins. Best for the visitors was Ellis Martin with a fine treble. Saints are positioned very nicely after a 15-0 demolition of Pigeon Club team, the Highfliers. There were hat tricks for Shaun McAlister, Paul McAlister, Dean McDonagh, Bill McIlroy Jr and Anthony McCorry. Saints stablemates St Comgalls move up to 8th after a comfortable 11-4 win at home to Thatch Rockets and Feathers kept up their good form winning 10-5 away to Dhu. Session scores were 4-1, 3-2 and 3-2 in favour of Feathers. Micky O'Boyle's Station Bar are now only four points of pole position after thrashing Larne FSC 12-3 down at the Station Road venue thanks to session scores of 5-0, 4-1 and 4-1. FSC Captain Michael McCowan registered both frames for his team. The biggest shock of the night must be LIPS 9-6 win away to No 1 Reds, a win that moves them off the bottom off the table to joint 11th spot.
