Saints - Bye
With Saints having a bye this week, Stuart Houston's Gers took full advantage by thrashing Larne FSC 13-2 to move back to the top of the table again. There were hat tricks for Neil McKelvey and Lee Hogg, whilst Alaistar Law and John Beggs scored the Football Clubs two consolation frames. William Irvine's No 1 Club move joint second after an 11-4 stroll away to St Comgalls, winning the three sessions 4-1, 4-1, 3-2. No 1 Blues had led 6-3 away to Dhu but had to win the play off frame courtesy off Tyler McKee to rescue a point. Thatch keep very much in the title race after a comfortable 11-4 win away to Highfliers in the Pigeon Club, highlight of the match being a break and dish from Johnny Nelson. And what a win for the ever improving Station Bar. They travelled the short journey across to the No 1 Reds and went back with both points after a 12-3 demolition off Tam Hagan's team. Thatch Rockets edged out LIPS 9-7, hero off the hour being Eddie Hunter who won the 16th and final frame off the match. Ibrox, although still unbeaten, once again stuttered against Hugo Manson's Feathers who came back from 6-8 down to secure a deserved point. Tristan Scott-Heyes scored 3/4 including the all important 16th frame for the Pigeon Club team. Best for Ibrox was Robert Hawkins with his 3rd consecutive treble.
In what looks like being one of the closest fought campaigns in years in the Larne & District Pool League, watch out for a huge match next week as Shaun McAlister's Saints entertain Bryan McWhirter's Thatch. The No 1 Club derby match will also be one to look out for.
