LEAGUE WEEK 8

THURSDAY 31st OCTOBER

Ibrox 10-5 Blues
Clonlee 2-13 Five Plus One
Eight Ball Army 9-6 Q.Stix
Q.Stars 6-9 St Comgalls
Q.Tips 9-6 Station Bar
Lorraine's Flyers V Bye

Feature match - What a match unfolded in the Q.Club as Tips took on lowly Station Bar hoping to keep close on the heels of the teams at the top of the table. Micky O'Boyle's lads had other ideas though and swept into a 5-1 lead helped by a brace from Rab Wilson. But the match turned on its' head with the introduction of the Carson brothers for the hosts, both Chris and Steven scoring fine hat tricks. Station needed to win the final rack to force a play off frame but it wasn't to be as Wayne Lewis sealed a great comeback and both points for his team winning the frame for a 9-6 success. Session scores were 1-4, 4-1 and 4-1.
League leaders Ibrox entertained bottom team The Blues and should have been in good spirits after last weeks epic against Five Plus One. But they started flat and the score was level at 3-3 after Frame 6. The hosts eventually ran out 10-5 winners but it would have been a different story if Blues had of finished of four racks they had big chances in. Session scores were 3-2, 4-1 and 3-2. Meanwhile Five Plus One travelled to the St Comgalls Club and wasted no time in steamrolling Clonlee 13-2, they took the first 7 racks before conceding and Clonlee didn't register again until the final frame. The fairy tale continues for John Kerr's Eight Ball Army team in their debut season. Still no major slip ups, this time they seen off an experienced Q.Stix side by 9-6 (4-1, 1-4 and 4-1) to stay joint second in the table on points with Five Plus One. Paul Smyth's St Comgalls are still very much in contention after a solid 9-6 (1-4, 3-2 and 2-3) away win at Q.Stars. Although they lost the first rack a five frame burst put the visitors in control. Q.Stars rallied but couldn't win the final frame which would have taken the match into a sixteenth frame Play Off. Last but not least, Lorraine's Flyers had a bye this week
