Ibrox V Bye

Feature match - With Ibrox having their Bye tonight, Bryan McWhirter's Five Plus One had the chance to move top of the Larne and District Pool League. And they done just that with a 9-6 home win over Alan Johnston's Q.Stix. FPO won all three sessions by 3-2 though it was touch and go after eleven racks as Stix trailed by one frame only at 5-6. Top hitters for the hosts were Johnny Nelson and Shaun McAlister both with hat tricks whilst Alan Johnston and Darren Lowe scored doubles for the visitors.

Q.Stars turned on the style tonight with an 11-4 win away at Station Bar. Session scores were 4-1, 4-1 and 3-2 with the two points being secured after the eleventh frame at 9-2. Hugo Manson's Q.Tips stay very much in contention just two points of the pace after a 9-6 home win against Eight Ball Army with scores of 4-1, 4-1 and 3-2. In the battle of the two basement teams it was Francie Gribben's lads who came out on top to register their first points of the season away to Alex Irvine's Blues. Clonlee took a 3-0 lead but the hosts came storming back to level at 3-3 before a five frame burst put the visitors on the hill at 8-3. But Blues rallied once again and brought it back to 8-6 needing to win Frame 15 to take the match into a Play Off Frame, but it wasn't to be as Tony McKeown won the day for his team making it 9-6. And last but not least what a match unfolded as St Comgalls entertained Lorraine's Flyers, the visitors took the first four racks but after the eighth it was all square at 4-4 as the hosts came racing back. The match eventually went into a Play Off frame with Lorraine's guaranteeing themselves at least a point by winning frame fifteen through Ian McCalmont. But even though Dean McDonagh won Frame 16 for St Comgalls, Lorraine's can be more than pleased with a well earned point away to last seasons League Runners Up.
