GERS v BYE

Q.Pool's stay at the top of the Larne & District League was short lived as Pigeon Club won the big top of the table clash tonight. And what a match it was, Pigeon raced into a 4-0 lead then lost five on the trot but then won the final six racks to close the match out at 10-5. Two strong teams included the newly crowned Northern Ireland Champion Pat McAnally for Q.Pool and the legend that is Ronan McCarthy for Pigeon. Amazingly McCarthy didnt get a shot in open play in his three frames played, he was dished on two dry breaks and broke and dished against on his other, but it's great to have top cueists come down to play in and strengthen our League. With Gers having a bye this week Ibrox had the chance to overtake them but they had to be content with a point courtesy of a play off frame win by Robert Hawkins in a very exciting 8-8 draw away to Q.Club who at one stage trailed 1-5. Hugo Manson's Feathers were also held at Station Bar, with Micky O'Boyle playing a captains role in Frame 16 for the Railway men. Paul Smyth's St Comgall's registered another two League points with a solid 10-5 home win over Rubys Stars and Blues make it three wins on the trot after after storming back from 3-5 down to win 9-6 agains Jordan Peoples's Freewheelers. Last but not least Thatch Rockets missed the chance to move of the bottom going down 6-9 at home to Clonlee who move up to 11th leapfrogging Freewheelers.
