St Comgalls 8-8 Freewheelers

A memorable and totally unpredictable season in the Q.Club sponsored Larne & District Pool League very nearly took another incredible twist. Leaders Thatch Bar were expected to see off ninth placed No 1 Blues pretty comfortably to set up a last match fixture against Q.Club to regain their title from last season. They did see off the Blues but what a scare they got, as the No 1 team took them to a play off frame and nearly got the draw. In the sixteenth rack Johnny Nelson was glad to get back to the table after he gave away two shots mid frame and the experienced cueman went on to sink the final black off an exciting match much to the delight of Manager Bryan McWhirter. Challengers Saints and Feathers both won 13-2 on the night over Thatch Rockets and Clonlee respectively to keep it a three way battle going into next weeks 26th and final League fixture. William Irvine's fourth placed Q.Pool had young Aaron Rolston to thank for rescueing a point in an 8-8 draw, his play off frame win also gave him four from four on the night. Ibrox consolidated 5th spot with one of their best performances of the season, a 10-5 away win over Neil McFaul's Q.Club side whilst Micky O'Boyle's Station Bar registered a good 9-6 win against Knock Out Cup Runners Up Rubys Stars. Lastly but not least Freewheelers recorded their first draw of the season away to St Comgalls for whom Gary McCorry won four from four on the night including the play off frame win.
