A great night in the Q.Club seen all 16 teams battle it out on the 8 tables in the 1st Round of the Knock Out Cup. First team through were Saints who disposed of Tech Tornadoes by a resounding 8-1 scoreline. They were soon joined by Ibrox who as expected eased past newcomers Clonlee courtesy of an 8-2 win. Next into the Quarter Finals were St Comgalls who seen off basement team Rubys Bar by 8-3 and Stuart Houston's Gers maintained their recent good run of form coming from behind to oust the Q.Club by 8-5 in an exciting match. The young No 1 Blues performed well again, this time with an emphatic 8-3 win to knock out Geoff McMichael's Freewheelers. A shock result unfolded as Jean McIlroys Thatch Rockets beat Feathers in a match that went all the way to the 15th and deciding frame. Toast of the Rockets was Jean herself as she potted the final black of the match for the 8-7 victory. Q.Pool beating League Leaders and defending Cup Winners The Thatch maybe wasn't so much of a shock result as the margin itself. Barney Hyland's team raced into a 6-1 lead and had no intentions of letting it slip as they traded the next four frames for a very impressive 8-3 win. Last but not least Station Bar and No 1 Redsfought out a close match with the Reds winning frame 14 for an 8-6 success. Good luck to all teams in the Quarter Finals.
