From 52 entrants 48 year old Bill McIlroy Sr, is the new 2012/2013 SRM League Individual Champion. After scraping through on Day 1 into the Last 16, McIlroy was unstoppable today Day 2, Sunday 12th May, turning back the clock years to stroll into the final. McIlroy last won the trophy in 2005 and has now been successful a record 5 times his first being in 1997. He won 15 frames for the loss of only 1 on his way to the final where waiting for him was Stephen McWhirter who had found his best form of the season, especially in his 5-4 Last 8 win over one of the tournament favourites, Shaun McAlister. But McIlroy kept up his momemtum and claimed the crown with a 6-3 win finishing off frame 9 with a delightful back double, double to land plum on the black.
