In a great boost for local Pool, Larne Pool League was represented by both players in the Final of the 2012 NIPA Masters. Thatch cueist Ellis Martin qualified for the Event as 2012 Larne & Carrick Individual Seniors Champion where his opponent in the Final was Ibrox star player Ed McDowell.
It was 30 year old McDowell who won the Competition which was played in the Kingfisher Bar, Bangor on Sunday 20th May. His path to victory included a nailbiting 5-4 win over reigning Masters and NI Individual Champion Ronan McCarthy from Ards. He then went on to beat Ellis by 6-3 in the Final.
