What a night we had in the Q.Club in the Quarter Finals of the 2019-2020 Knockout Cup. One could argue that all four outsiders won their ties to progress to the Semi Finals. No argument about the biggest upset as Stephen Spence's Lorraine's Flyers knocked out League leaders Five Plus One in a match that went the full fifteen frames. Session scores were 3-2, 3-2 and 2-3 in Lorraine's favour with Alan Murray and Glyn Williams winning the final two frames of the match to see their team through, incredible result for the Flyers.
Hugo Manson's Q.Tips met the League's second placed team Ibrox with a tight match expected. That's how it worked out with the game evenly balanced at 6-6 after twelve racks before the Carson brothers Steven and Chris stepped up to win the next two frames and send Tips into the Semi Final draw. Session scores for the victors were 2-3, 4-1 and 2-2.
Q.Stars won the first session 3-2 and never looked back in their match against Q.Stix and they pushed on taking the next by 4-1. Although Stix won frame eleven it was only a stay of execution as Oliver Mulvenna potted the last black of the game to send his team into the Semi Finals.
Bottom placed Blues took on joint third placed Eight Ball Army and it was the Blues who started the best by running off the first four racks. A double from Captain John Kerr helped reduce the arrears to 3-4 for the Army but the total comeback wasn't to be as Lee Gribben completed his hat trick in frame twelve for Blues to take a Semi Final berth.
