Five 11-4 Thatch Rockets
With only five League fixtures remaining Bryan McWhirter's Five team need only three wins to be crowned Champions after tonights results in the Q.Club sponsored Larne & District Pool League. Whilst Five themselves were easing to a comfortable two points against Thatch Rockets with an 11-4 (4-1, 3-2, 4-1) win nearest rivals St Comgalls were falling to only their second defeat of the season against Hugo Manson's Q.Tips by a similar 11-4 scoreline. Q.Tips were never behind in the match and a decisive 5-0 win in the second session was key. Third played fourth as Q.Stars travelled to Ibrox and the hosts had to come back from 5-8 down to rescue a point in an 8-8 draw. Stephen Herron was the Ibrox hero of the hour winning Frame 16. Ryan Scott's Q.Club side registered their second win on the trot as they seen off a spirited challenge from basement side Lorraine's, session scores were 3-2, 4-1 and 3-2 in a 10-5 victory. Station Bar Manager Micky O'Boyle hasn't seen much consistency from his lads this season but he will be hoping a devastating 13-2 (4-1, 4-1, 5-0) win over Freewheelers will be a turning point for the Railwaymen who leapfrog tonights opponents on the League table into eighth spot. Last but not least Alex Irvine's Blues consolidated sixth position with a solid 9-6 (4-1, 3-2, 2-3) success over tenth placed Clonlee.
