It was back to League action tonight in the Q.Club sponsored Larne & District Pool League after a three week break for Doubles and St Valentines Day. The big match was second placed St Comgalls away to third placed Q.Stars, with both teams hoping for a win to stay in touch with leaders Five. And what a fantastic match it was, as they battled out a tense 8-8 draw. The visitors started strongly racing into a 4-0 lead and with the next four racks shared St Comgalls were in a very strong position at 6-2 up. But Q.Stars were far from finished and rattled off six on the trot to lead 8-6, back came the visitors to win Frame 15 and force a play off frame in which Dean McDonagh finished well to give both side a hard earned point. Meanwhile leaders Five were untroubled away to Clonlee running out 13-2 (4-1, 4-1, 5-0) winners on the night to open up a three point gap at the top. Fourth placed Ibrox were never behind as they won 10-5 (4-1,4-1 2-3) away to Freewheelers and it was a similar story for fifth placed Q.Tips as they won away at Lorraine's by a convincing 12-3 (5-0, 3-2, 4-1) scoreline. In the Q.Club v Blues derby match it was the hosts who took the honours though they had to win the last three frames of the match for a 9-6 result (2-3, 3-2, 4-1). Last but not least Thatch Rockets pulled off their biggest win for a long time as they hammered an out of sorts Station Bar 12-3 (4-1, 4-1, 4-1).
