What a night we had in the Larne & District Pool League on Thursday 11th January. League leaders Pigeon Club suffered their first defeat of the season going down 6-9 in the derby match to a superb performance from Hugo Manson's Feathers. Gers took advantage of that result, but only just, Stuart Houston's side won the last four racks of the match from 5-6 down to get over the line after an inspired performance from Francie Gribben's lowly Clonlee. In another David versus Goliath match Q.Pool needed the play off frame to scrape past the finishing post against Alex Irvine's Blues who had excelled all night. And St Comgalls put in their best performance of the season away to Ibrox in the Rangers Club, hero of the hour was Paul McAlister who won the play off frame to give his side an excellent 9-7 success on the night. Neil McFaul's Q.Club just done enough to take both points at home to Freewheelers in a 9-6 win and last but not least Thatch Rockets are still without a point after they went down 10-5 away to Micky O'Boyle's Station Bar side. Rubys Stars had a bye this week.
