An incredible week in the Larne & District Pool League seen the top three sides all lose which means we will go into the final fixture in the first half of the season with only two points separating the first six teams. Leaders Five Plus One went down to John Kerr's Eight Ball Army after an absorbing match that went to a Play Off frame, the Army Captain winning the said frame to give his team an unlikely 9-7 win which also puts them level on points at the top with their opponents. Session scores were 4-1, 2-3, 2-3 and 1-0. Performance of the night was John Kerr himself on 4/4. Last seasons Runners Up St Comgalls finally found their top form after an indifferent start to the season when they travelled up to the Rangers Club and hammered Ibrox by 11-4. They were bolstered by hat tricks from both Davy Magill and Dean McDonagh and are now only two points off top spot. Session scores were 1-4, 2-3 and 1-4. And the trio of top teams going down was completed when Q.Stars edged out Q.Tips by 9-6. Stars raced into a 5-0 lead but it looked like Tips could still take the points as they brought it back to 6-4 with five to play. It wasn't to be for Hugo Manson's side though as Ryan Scott won Frame 14 to guarantee his side both points. Each side had a hat trick hero, Eddie Gribben for Q.Stars and Chris Carson for Tips. Alan Johnston's Q.Stix made up ground with a hard earned 9-6 win over basement team Blues. A five frame burst in the middle of the match done the damage and Craig Johnston won the all important frame that brought home the points. Last but not least Station Bar registered their best win of the campaign when they travelled to the Pigeon Club to take on Lorraine's Flyers. The visitors lost the opening frame but amazingly won the next ten which was more than good enough to win the match. The final result was 12-3 with Captain Micky O'Boyle and Rab Wilson both scoring hat tricks. Clonlee had a bye this week.
