Tonight seen a break from League action as the Prelims of the Knockout Cup took centre stage in the Q.Club. Alan Johnston's Q.Stix took on last seasons League Runners Up St Comgalls who were fresh on the back of an 11-4 hammering of Ibrox from last week. But it was Stix who turned on the style last night as they won the match by 8-5. They were never behind and a fine hat trick from Captain Johnston himself helped to send his team into the Quarter Final draw. Eight Ball Army were relatively untroubled as they seen off Clonlee 8-3. They raced into a 5-1 lead and never looked back with Jean McIlroy winning the all important frame to close the match out. And what a match we had between Station Bar and Blues, Station led 5-2 after seven racks against the League's basement team but back came the Blues to take the match into a deciding fifteenth frame where it was left to the experienced Blues Captain Alex Irvine to secure his teams first win of the season and book a spot in the last eight. And last but not least newcomers the Dirty Dozen showed some grit as they led Q.Stars by 3-2 before eventually going down 8-4, Rodney McIlhinney registering a hat trick for the winners.
