LEAGUE WEEK 6

THURSDAY 17th OCTOBER

Clonlee 3-12 Eight Ball Army
Q.Stix 6-9 Ibrox
Lorraine's 2-13 Five Plus One
Q.Stars 10-5 Blues
Station Bar 4-11 St Comgalls
Q.Tips V Bye

Feature match - Fourth entertained second as Ibrox travelled to the Q.Club to take on new side Q.Stix. And it couldn't have started better for the visitors as they reeled off the first six racks of the night with some decent finishing. But Stix dug deep and stormed back taking four from the next five including a double for Captain Alan Johnston. Ibrox were under pressure as heading into the last frame they now led by only 8-6. But with the prospect of the Play Off Frame looming large up stepped veteran Kenny English to get Ibrox over the line with a classy reverse dish. With leaders Q.Tips having their bye tonight Ibrox now move to the top of the table before next weeks clash with last seasons Champions Five who are  now moving into top gear after tonights 13-2 demolition away to Lorraine's Flyers in the Pigeon Club. Session scores in favour of Bryan McWhirter's side were 5-0, 4-1 and 4-1. St Comgalls faced a potential banana skin fixture away to Station Bar but Paul Smyth's lads came through with flying colours winning 11-4. The damage was done early in the match as the visitors secured both points by leading 9-1 after ten racks. Eight Ball Army continued their great start to the season with a huge 12-3 win away at Clonlee. The hosts won the first two frames of the match but nine on the trot from the Army put them over the hill at 9-2. Clonlee took Frame 11 but the visitors won the final three to move to joint third on points in the table. In a Q.Club derby match it was Q.Stars who took the honours with solid 10-5 win over the Blues. The session scores were 3-2, 4-1 and 3-2 for Stars and they closed the match out at 9-5 with one frame to spare.

MCCLAYS TROPHIES "PLAYER OF THE YEAR" TABLE

Very tight at the top as Johnny Nelson and Dean McDonagh move to the top both on 12 points. But they are followed closely by 6 players on 11 as we head into League Week 7 next Thursday.
