Well League Week 1 has come and gone in our new season and what a night we had. A possible upset looked on the cards for last years Champions playing under the new name of "5". They were level at 6-6 away to Station Bar but like the true Champions they are they came good to take the last three racks for an important 9-6 win. But there was an upset in the Rangers Club where last seasons League Runners Up were held to a draw after a fine performance by Alex Irvine's Blues. Andy Mackey was the hero of the hour for the visitors winning the 16th Frame. Q.Tips were untroubled at home to Clonlee winning 12-3, Hugo Manson having once again built a team that can challenge at the top of the table. Alan Nicholl's newcomers Lorraine's got off to a dream start leading 4-1 away to Freewheelers but back came Jordan Peoples's side to lead 8-7 and take the match into a Play Off fame. And it was Jordan himself who played a Captains innings winning the rack for a 9-7 victory. Q.Stars had the biggest win of the night seeing off Thatch Rockets by a resounding 13-2. Another tight match was played out in the St Comgalls Club as Alphonsus McIlwaine's home side were taken to a Play Off fame by Ryan Scott's Q.Club. It went the way off St Comgalls courtesy of the ever consistent Anthony McCorry.
